Loadercli for SAPDB 7.3 on AIX 5.3

Hi,

I'm trying to migrate a SAPDB 7.3 database to a MaxDB 7.8 on AIX operating system.

According to the SAP Note 962019 is necessary to use the loadercli to export the data from the SAPR3 user.

My problem is that I didn't find the loadercli for this database (7.3)

Can anyone help me with this download?

Tks,

Ricardo

1 Task Limit MaxDB 7.5.18 with 7.7 GUI

Hello all,

Long story short, I've got a new SAP Instance and DB running that I'm testing a complete data restore. Upon testing the complete data restore using the Database Studio v. 7.7 connecting to MaxDB 7.5.18 on Linux RHEL3, the GUI goes through DB activation and seemingly the restore of the backup file but the GUI says "1 Task Limit" and stops.  The knldiag just waits at "COMMUNIC wait for connection T63".  When I browse that file though, I find all the parts with activation and recovery and there are no errors.

Does anyone know what the GUI means by 1 Task Limit and am I safe to cancel the GUI and try to bring the DB online?  Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Chris

Cleanup of backup medium

Hello everyone

Maybe there is a very easy solution and I am looking at this from the wrong angle. Let me explain.

Working on MSSQL, there is a facility to schedule a cleanup (delete) of backup media taken to disk. So, effectively, you can schedule your backup to disk (data and transaction logs) and schedule a maintenance plan to delete files in that location using specific age criteria.

Now, for MaxDB I dont see that there is susch a facility. For data backups, I propose to backup to separate direcotries on consecutive days and use the overwrite indicator when taking the backup. That way I will always have two days worth of backup available on resident disk. But I dont know how to do that for the log backup files. They are allocated an incrementing number as a qualifier to the filename. Can anyone suggest a way to automate this "cleanup" please? I would like to maintain a two day retention of log backup files on resident disk as well.

Thanks and Cheers

Ray

Hi all,

I have a question regarding the usage of parameter MAXCPU. I have set it the value 3. But I do see only one cpu used and almost at 100% with the command "top".

My release is MAXDB 7.7 and the kernel for Linux is SMP.

Someone can tell me what influence this behaviour?

thank you all

High CPU usage on MaxDb instance

Hello Everyone,

I have a system showing high load on the CPU :

top - 00:05:05 up 311 days, 13:03,  9 users,  load average: 50.72, 127.39, 110.54

Tasks: 500 total,   1 running, 499 sleeping,   0 stopped,   0 zombie

Cpu(s):  0.3%us,  0.3%sy,  0.0%ni, 64.8%id, 34.3%wa,  0.0%hi,  0.0%si,  0.3%st

Mem:     49160M total,    48507M used,      652M free,      149M buffers

Swap:    20479M total,     1940M used,    18539M free,     3548M cached

I checked everything and noticed shared memory error in the dbmsrv file

Can anyone let me know if the shared memory could be a cause in the high load?

Or do I need to do any other basic checks?

Any help would be appreciated

HELP! After Restore of MAXDB 7.6.06.03 I get sql error duplicate secondary key and the database can't go ONLINE.

I tried to restore a complete backup with initialization. When the restore is finished and I click on Restart the error comes up.

Is there a chance to fix that error? I dont have access to an older backup right now.

EDIT: The error log says this:

2014-05-27 05:36:54      0x308 ERR     5 Catalog  Catalog update failed,IFR_ERROR=250,DESCRIPTION=POS(1) Duplicate secondary key:INDEX001

I also tried to switch AUTO_RECREATE_BAD_INDEXES from NO to YES but no difference. Any ideas?

Hi,

We are trying a migration of a system from DB2 to MaxDB.

The import was successful, however once we login to the system we get the below dump.

An exception occurred that is explained in detail below.

The exception, which is assigned to class 'CX_SY_OPEN_SQL_DB', was not caught

We're encountering severe problems with our MaxDB instances and want to define thresholds in order to convince our hoster to move data volumes from NFS to SAN devices. In peak times, WriteTime goes up to 2000 ms which is not acceptable for us. Which values for ReadTime / WriteTime are healthy?

Dear All,

We have linux based SAP DMS installed with MAXDB as backend database.

One of the users has deleted a file on which he was working, and wants the same to be restored with last change in it. How can I do the restore of that file to the last change in our case?

Furthremore, this would have been possible if it was Fileserver however, we are not aware about such feature in SAP.

Please help!

Maxdb connection error during system build

Hi All,

I am performing a system copy of Live cache from production to an FDR landscape. We are on AIX 7.1 and maxdb 7.9. I have been performing the system copy as per the SAP notes 886103 and post cloning as per 877203.

Status till now: I have copied the file systems from source machine to target machine one on one.

When i try unregistering the live cache instance it's throwing the error as below:

# pwd

/sapdb/programs/bin

# ./dbmcli -d TLP -u control,Twining1

Error! Connection failed to node (local) for database TLP:

-24950,ERR_USRFAIL: User authorization failed

The above was performed as root user.

However if i try performing the same using sidadm i get a different error and thats as below:

$ sudo su - tlcadm

Password:

$ cd /sapdb/programs/bin

$ ./dbmcli -d TLP -u control,Twining1

Bad path '/db2/TLP/sapdb/TLP/db/pgm/starter/sdbstarter'

Wanted (UserId     0, GroupId   254, Mode 104510 '-r-s--x---')

Got    (UserId   255, GroupId   254, Mode 104510 '-r-s--x---')

RTE_CallSdbStarter(): Wrong ownership for starter program absolute path

Error! Connection failed to node (local) for database TLP:

Reading header from pipe:closed by serv

I have performed this kind of system copy for 2 other landscapes and both the times i have used root only as the user.

Could anybody assist me as how to proceed further.

This is critical as we are in the middle of the build and need to hand over the system by tomorrow.

Thanks,

Soumya

Hello members,

One of our SAP server with MaxDB as database is down. Data Area is 100 full. Server Disk space is also full. We cannot create/add new data volumes in this disc.

Now we have created directory in another server. Can we map that network folder on server and add new data volume to that folder?

I am trying to do it but I am getting -24988 SQL error [db_online -f]; -902, I/O error

I have also followed link

Questions to SAP Support: "How to move MaxDB volumes?"

Please help.
